Trying to figure out Photoshop again...also just really itching to work on Drift, so I played a bit this afternoon. Still no idea what I'm doing, and I'm sure there's a better way to work in this silly program....but I will truck on, blindly. I feel like a simple sea captain whose just been put in charge of flying a fighter jet....in other words, a fish out of water. But a determined fish.
I've always worked in PS, now I'm trying to learn SAI a little... I don't think I could help you, I use the program on its very basic level. But it works for me fine, though. What don't you understand with PS? Is there something what bothers you the most?
Just frustrated with my general lack of knowledge about how to use the tools effectively without making everything look super cheesy or uber cartoony. e_e It's a work in progress, I need to just find some time to sit down and go through some tutorials from other digital artists so I can get the hang of how everything works. I'm just used to Open Canvas, a much simpler sketching program that has like 6 basic tools and not that many ways to manipulate them. It's the program I used for basically everything in my DA gallery....but I've been putting off learning Photoshop for too long, so it's time for me to just suck it up and be prepared to be terrible at PS for a while until I get the hang of it.
Oh, quite the same here, sadly. I can't make use of brushes, for example... in no way! I'm trying, but it looks, in my opinion, very messy. If I use two or three brushes on one picture, it turns into a piece of shit, where's too many things of it, too many textures. And I have the same problem - PS gives, for me, too many possibilities. Immensity of them makes things worse. Yesterday I decided to increase my traditional painting skills, return to traditional drawing and painting, 'cause what makes me the most frustrated about with a digital painting is this hmm... endless number of corrections, which I can make in my picture. On a paper, using pen or sth like that I can't rub everyting out. The same with oil or acryl painting - I can't play with my work till doomsday, what I do if I paint digitally. It's simply terrible after few hours. I strayed from the subject a little... D: but jumping from Open Canvas to Photoshop can be something like jumping from traditional to digital drawing, hm, in some way, if we're talking about a medium possibilities. nvm. I thing you'll achieve your goal soon - Photoshop will make you digital painting so far easier and faster ^^
psst you should try using Sai it's really nice to sketch in
Yeah, I should...I guess I'm just tired of not understanding Photoshop though. But yeah, Sai would be a better transition from OC to PS probably...I shall take your suggestion.
ALSO cause I'm sure you need things to waste your time with this summer (if you're not already on there) - This site flightrising.com/index.php opens registration on Tuesday but only for 24 hours. They've been doing restricted signing up. It's like Wajas or Lioden but with DRAGONS. I'm signing up and I'm so excited
Haha, yeah, I'm just barely weaned off of Lioden...if I'm going to work on Drift this summer I can't afford any more LD-esque distractions. e_e I have heard of it though, and people seem to enjoy it. Lots of Liodenners on there I think. I'll just look at your pretty dragons instead!
